In 2021 a simple funeral in the UK was charged around £4,184 but the average price of a funeral was £9,253 which some people could not afford. In the West Midlands/ London and the East prices of funerals were rated the most expensive. 

38% of people had stated they had to use up their savings to pay for funerals whilst 25% added the costs to a credit card.
